Pierson has a smile that can light up a room! When he recognizes the adults in his life he will hold out his hand, smile, and give their hand a friendly shake. Pierson is described as likeable, happy and easy going. Though he is non-verbal, he is able to express his likes through vocal noises and shaking his head. Life's pleasures that make Pierson happy are participating in music therapy and watching the movements of a colorful lava lamp. He attends an ungraded classroom and benefits from an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), physical and occupational therapies, and utilizes a padded helmet. It is not expected that Pierson will live independently as an adult, but he can have a great life. Pierson's caseworker will consider all family types for placement. He requires a wheelchair and needs to live in a wheelchair accessible home. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services. This is a LEGAL RISK ADOPTIVE PLACEMENT.
